Obituary

Charles Starrett Perkins, 79, of Edmonton, KY passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, August 9, 2026. He was born on July 2, 1947, in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, and throughout his seventy-nine years, Charles was a pillar of strength and warmth to all who knew him.

Charles dedicated many years of his professional life as a machine operator at Eaton-Dana Corporation, earning the respect of colleagues through his diligence and unfailing reliability. His commitment to hard work and integrity was a guiding light for those around him, and he took pride in being part of a team that valued precision and craftsmanship.

Outside his professional life, Charles was a man of many joys. He found great pleasure in the quiet patience of fishing, the thrill of hunting, and the shared exhilaration of watching University of Kentucky Basketball. Evenings spent in front of the television lost in classic westerns brought him comfort and delight. Of all his pastimes, however, his greatest happiness came from being surrounded by family and friends. The time spent together, whether filled with laughter or quiet conversation, was treasured dearly by Charles and left an enduring mark on his loved ones.

Charles was a member of the Sulphur Springs Baptist Church and drew strength from his faith and the church community, always striving to lead a life of kindness and compassion in the spirit of his beliefs.

He is survived by his loving wife Judy Hoggard Perkins, his beloved daughter, Freda Perkins, who was his pride and joy. He is also survived by his caring niece, Tracy Perkins Pearcy (Allen); a great niece, Grace Pearcy; and his sister-in-law, Gail Perkins. Their memories of his love, wisdom, and humor will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents Rollin and Mary Emily Jeffries Perkins; a brother, Dempsey Perkins and sister Judy Simmons and her husband Roger. Though he will be mourned and missed, Charles’s reunion with his departed loved ones brings a measure of comfort to those who grieve.
